A group of residents from Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a wonderful day out in Chelmsford, exploring its rich history and architecture. The trip took place on Tuesday 25th March and included a visit to Chelmsford Cathedral, a leisurely walk through the town centre and along the river, and a delicious lunch at Wetherspoons.
The residents explored Chelmsford Cathedral, soaking in its historical significance and admiring the stunning architecture. They had a peaceful moment for spiritual reflection, lighting candles inside the cathedral. Following the visit, they walked through Chelmsford High Street and along the river, reflecting on how the area had changed over the years. The trip ended with a delightful lunch at Wetherspoons, followed by a refreshing stop for McFlurry ice creams at McDonald’s on the way home.
This trip allowed residents to visit places they had never seen before, creating a sense of connection to the wider community beyond Rosedale Court. It also provided the opportunity for residents to enjoy a traditional pub lunch and a favourite drink, continuing to engage with their past experiences.
The idea for the day trip emerged from conversations between lifestyle coordinator Louise and the residents, where they expressed interest in visiting places they hadn’t seen before. Chelmsford was chosen, and the residents were excited to explore its history.
The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with joy and laughter. Highlights included Dolly’s excited reaction upon spotting Primark and Anne’s delight at receiving her McFlurry! The day also provided plenty of opportunities for reminiscence, with the residents sharing stories of their past experiences.
The standout moment of the day was the visit to the Tree of Life painting inside Chelmsford Cathedral, which left many of the residents fascinated. Resident Steve expressed his views, and said “The tree of life painting is so clever.”
