Residents and staff from Leawood Manor Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed an exciting trip out for a game of bowling on 11 February 2025, embracing a fun-filled day.
The outing provided a fantastic opportunity for residents to stay active in a way that was both accessible and enjoyable. Gentle physical activity such as bowling supports mobility, coordination, and overall wellbeing, all while feeling like a social treat rather than structured exercise.
The trip also sparked friendly competition and boosted confidence, as residents cheered one another on and celebrated every strike and spare. Shared laughter and encouragement helped strengthen friendships and build camaraderie within the group, creating special memories that will be talked about long after the final frame.
Importantly, spending time out in the local community promotes independence and inclusion. Experiences beyond the home help residents feel connected to the wider world, maintaining a sense of normality and active participation in everyday life.
Sue, Wellbeing Lead at Leawood Manor, said:
“The bowling trip was such a fantastic day for everyone. It wasn’t just about the game — it was about getting out together, cheering each other on, and sharing lots of laughter along the way. Seeing the residents encourage one another and celebrate every score, big or small, was truly special. Days like this build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create memories that stay with us long after the final frame.”
