Mulberry Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, marked Burns Night with a joyful celebration of Scottish culture, bringing residents, families, and staff together for an evening of tradition, fun, and community spirit.
The event was led by Kirsty, Lifestyle Coordinator at Mulberry Court, alongside the Lifestyle Team, who organised a programme of activities inspired by the life and legacy of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns. Residents enjoyed a selection of traditional Scottish foods and took part in a lively game of golf, creating plenty of laughter and friendly competition.
The atmosphere throughout the celebration was warm and uplifting, with residents, staff, and visiting family members all joining in the fun. One of the standout moments of the day was resident ambassador Peader (Peter) winning the first round of golf. Peter shared that he had never tried anything like it before, making his win even more special and memorable for everyone involved.
Speaking about the importance of the event, Kirsty explained how activities like Burns Night play a vital role in promoting social interaction and wellbeing within the home. By taking part in cultural celebrations, residents are able to learn more about different traditions and heritage, helping to build understanding, appreciation, and meaningful connections.
The idea for the celebration was inspired by Mulberry Court’s focus on ‘The Year of Culture’, with Burns Night chosen as the perfect way to launch a year dedicated to cultural awareness, inclusion, and shared experiences.
Events like this highlight Mulberry Court’s ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of residents through engaging, inclusive, and meaningful activities that promote joy, learning, and community togetherness.
