Long View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently held a vibrant celebration in honour of Chinese New Year on the 29th of January. The festivities provided an exciting opportunity for residents to immerse themselves in Chinese culture and enjoy a range of themed activities.
The day kicked off with the transformation of the dining room, which was beautifully decorated with Chinese New Year decorations, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Residents then moved to the lounge for an engaging activity session, where they enjoyed making Chinese lanterns and solving Chinese-themed crosswords and word searches.
A highlight of the celebration was the special Chinese lunch, which included a selection of authentic Chinese dishes. Residents enjoyed a delicious meal that included sweet curry chicken, spring rolls, and other tasty dishes that brought the flavours of China to the heart of Long View Care Home.
The event was a collaborative effort, with all lifestyle staff, management, and care staff coming together to ensure a memorable day for everyone. It was an opportunity to share the joy of Chinese New Year with the residents and promote happiness, well-being, and cultural awareness.
This celebration is particularly important as it allows residents to experience different cultures, fostering a sense of connection and joy. It also serves as a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together and provide an enriching experience for all.
“Chinese New Year is such a fantastic opportunity for the residents to experience something new and enjoy the traditions of another culture. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved in the activities and enjoying the delicious food. It’s always so rewarding to see the residents’ smiles as they engage in these fun, cultural events. It’s all about creating happy memories and making each day special here at Long View,” said Frankie, Lifestyle Activities Coordinator.
