On Tuesday 15th July, the team at Alexandra House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, held a successful car wash fundraiser, bringing together residents, staff, relatives and professionals to raise money for the residents’ activity fund.
The event was organised by Alexandra House’s activities coordinators, who were delighted by the turnout and enthusiasm from everyone involved. With buckets, sponges and plenty of smiles, the group worked together to clean cars and connect with the wider community.
The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter and shared memories, creating a fun and welcoming space for all who joined in. One resident shared, “I really enjoyed helping out today. This takes me back to when I was younger—I loved cleaning my parents’ car.” Another touching moment came when a resident and her daughter teamed up to wash a car together, evoking cherished memories from the past.
Family members were full of praise for the initiative, with one relative commenting, “Thank you for cleaning my car. It looks spotless!” and another adding, “Well done everybody, this is a great idea to raise funds for your residents.”
The car wash was more than just a fundraiser. It was a beautiful example of teamwork and community spirit. The money raised will help provide more materials for daily activities and support larger events requested by residents.
