Frank Foster House Care Home, part of Runwood Homes Group, proudly marked Remembrance Day with a special event for its resident veterans, attending the service at St Mary’s Church in Hainault. The occasion offered a heartfelt opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices and service of those who served in the Armed Forces.

Mike, one of the home’s veterans, shared his thoughts on the day:
“It was lovely to attend the Mass and the Hainault service for Remembrance Day. As a veteran, I felt very proud to be part of such a meaningful occasion.”

The trip provided residents, staff, and the local community a chance to come together in remembrance and appreciation. Nicolas Kee Mew, Home Manager, emphasised the significance of the day:
“At Frank Foster House, we honour the service and sacrifices of our veterans. Participating in Remembrance events allows our residents to share their experiences, feel valued, and maintain a sense of pride and identity.”

This event also aligns with Frank Foster House’s ongoing commitment to becoming a Veteran Friendly Care Home under the Veteran Aware Framework. Through this initiative, the home aims to:

  • Recognise and support the unique needs of veterans in care.
  • Raise awareness among staff about military service and its impact.
  • Foster an inclusive environment where veterans feel respected and supported.
  • Strengthen links with local veteran organisations and networks.

By joining the Veteran Friendly Framework, Frank Foster House reinforces its dedication to compassionate, person-centred care that honours the life stories and contributions of every individual.

The home extends thanks to the Hainault community for welcoming their veterans so warmly and for helping to make the day truly memorable.
