Liberty House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, has newly established a Gentlemen’s Club and it has quickly become a cherished part of the residents’ social calendar. Launched last month, the club meets every second Sunday and provides a relaxed and welcoming space where residents can enjoy a cold beer, friendly conversation, and a competitive game of dominoes.
Kelley, Lifestyle Coordinator at Liberty House, expressed her delight at the success of the new initiative, saying:
“I really enjoy these clubs. I really enjoy seeing smiles on our gents’ faces — it’s a nice, relaxed, calm afternoon.”
Resident Brian also shared his enthusiasm for the gatherings:
“I always have a great time at our Gentlemen’s Club. I do enjoy a nice cold beer, a chat with friends, and a good game of dominoes. I look forward to the Gentlemen’s Club.”
The club was created after recognising how much the men enjoyed socialising over a drink and a chat. Wanting to foster their sense of community and wellbeing, the team decided to make these moments a regular event. Residents, Kelley, and members of the care team all join in, making it a warm and inclusive experience for everyone involved.
Maintaining an active social life is vital for residents’ wellbeing, and the club provides an opportunity for them to continue doing the things they love. The atmosphere has been consistently calm, friendly, and full of good spirits.
The highlight of the sessions is seeing the men chatting, laughing, and truly enjoying themselves, a heartwarming reminder of the importance of connection and companionship within Liberty House.
