Residents at Greenbanks Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were delighted to welcome Grayson, a friendly and affectionate therapy dog, as part of an exciting new partnership with a local therapy dog company. The initiative, launched on 27th January 2025, will see therapy dogs visiting the home every last Monday of the month, providing companionship and joy to residents.
During the first session, residents spent an hour cuddling and playing with Grayson, showering him with treats and affection. The visit sparked heartwarming conversations among residents, many of whom reminisced about their own beloved pets. Kirsty, Customer Relations Manager at Greenbanks, shared her thoughts on the event: “It was lovely to see the residents’ faces light up when they saw Grayson. It was also a really good talking point for the residents, who then started talking about their own pets!”
The atmosphere during the visit was filled with smiles, laughter, and warmth as residents enjoyed the presence of their furry visitor. The initiative aims to create moments of happiness and nostalgia, fostering emotional well-being and a sense of love and comfort.
The idea for the therapy dog visits stemmed from the desire to bring more joy and emotional support to residents, many of whom have fond memories of their own pets. By introducing regular visits, Greenbanks Care Home ensures that residents experience companionship, comfort, and meaningful interactions.
Bringing therapy dogs into Greenbanks Care Home has proven to be a meaningful way to enhance residents’ quality of life, offering companionship and a therapeutic boost. With regular visits scheduled, residents and staff alike are looking forward to many more joyful encounters with their four-legged friends.
