Residents of Greenbanks Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a special day trip to St Albans Cathedral, a meaningful outing that brought joy and spiritual fulfillment to many.
The trip was organised by Greenbanks staff in response to residents’ requests to visit a place of worship. The visit allowed them to experience the cathedral’s beauty, say prayers, and reflect in a peaceful setting.”Going to the cathedral, especially on Ash Wednesday, was such a fantastic day out,” said Margaret, a resident at Greenbanks. “One thing I miss is going to my church every day, but this was just amazing, and we really enjoyed the day!”Led by staff, ten residents explored the cathedral, admired its stunning stained-glass windows, and later gathered at the café for tea and lunch. The trip was particularly important for those who cherish their faith, providing an opportunity to practice religious traditions in a familiar and meaningful way.
“Religion is an essential part of life for many of our residents, and we strive to support them in continuing their spiritual practices,” said Kirsty Harragan, CRM at Greenbanks.
With the sun shining and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the day was filled with happiness and gratitude. This visit was just one of many enriching experiences Greenbanks aims to provide, ensuring residents remain connected to the activities that bring them joy.
