Residents at Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a visit from Cuddly Cavies, a mobile guinea pig therapy experience that brought joy, comfort, and plenty of cuddles to the home.
Organised by the activities team, the event gave residents the opportunity to hold, feed, and interact with a group of gentle, friendly guinea pigs. These special visitors offered more than just adorable faces—they provided a therapeutic experience that encouraged nurturing interactions, sparked conversation, and created a truly soothing atmosphere throughout the home.
Carlie Phillips, Activities Coordinator at Windmill House, said, “Animal visits are a wonderful source of stimulation and joy, and it was heartwarming to see our residents care for and nurture the guinea pigs. The experience brought smiles, gentle conversations, and a calming presence to everyone involved.”
The visit, discovered through social media, proved to be a fantastic addition to the home’s activity program. The atmosphere during the event was calm and comfortable, with residents expressing how relaxing and meaningful it was to spend time with the animals.
Following the success of the day, the team at Windmill House hopes to organise more animal-assisted activities in the near future, continuing to bring comfort, connection, and happiness to residents’ daily lives.
