Residents and staff at Brewster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, celebrated Halloween in extra-special style this year, with a joint Halloween and birthday party for two residents, Alfred and John, who both share Halloween birthdays.
When Lifestyle Coordinator Leoni discovered that Alfred had rarely celebrated his birthday because it falls on Halloween, she decided it was time to change that with the help of the team at Brewster House. Together, they planned a fantastic party to celebrate both birthdays and the spooky season in style.
Although John, who prefers not to make a fuss, was happy to enjoy his cake quietly, Alfred’s joy was unmissable. He was smiling from ear to ear throughout the event and became emotional when everyone sang Happy Birthday, describing it as one of the most special moments of his life.
Resident Alfred said:
“I am speechless. I’ve never been so celebrated in my life. Thank you everyone for making my birthday so special, I am so emotional.”
The celebration featured live music from singer Ellie-Rose, who performed songs ranging from the 1940s to today’s hits. When the home’s original entertainer became unavailable, Leoni reached out on Facebook for help, and the David Randall Foundation kindly stepped in to sponsor the entertainment, ensuring the day was enjoyable.
Lifestyle Coordinator Leoni said:
“We all had such a great time with everyone joining in, and we’re so thankful to the David Randall Foundation for supporting us with this event.”
The atmosphere was joyous, happy, and emotional, with laughter, dancing, and a few happy tears.
