Residents at Humfrey Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a heartwarming and empowering minibus trip to the nearby Freeport Outlet, supporting choice, independence, and personal identity as part of the home’s “You Said, We Did” initiative.
The trip, which took place on 19 January 2026, was inspired by a simple but meaningful wish from one of the residents, a desire to visit a shop and buy a new cardigan. In response, the Lifestyle Team organised a special outing that allowed residents to enjoy browsing shops at their own pace, making personal choices, and experiencing a sense of independence in a supportive and relaxed environment.

“As part of our ‘You Said, We Did’ initiative, one of our residents shared a wish to visit a shop to buy a new cardigan. We were pleased to arrange a visit to the nearby Freeport Outlet, where we enjoyed browsing the shops together and finding the perfect cardigan. It was a lovely outing that supported choice, independence and brought plenty of smiles along the way.”
