Ivy Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently brought residents together for a special Kindness Boutique Pop-Up Shop, held on 11 January 2026, creating a joyful and uplifting experience for everyone involved.
The initiative, organised by Katie, Activities Coordinator, saw the home transformed into a boutique-style space where residents could browse a wide selection of clothing, bags, and shoes. All items were offered completely free of charge and had been very kindly donated by a family friend of the Activities Coordinator.
Residents were delighted by the event and were overjoyed by the kindness and generosity shown. The boutique format allowed everyone to take their time looking through the items, chatting with one another, and sharing opinions, which created a warm and sociable atmosphere throughout the home.
Sophie Dawson, Lifestyle Coordinator at Ivy Court, commented:
“This event brought residents whilst they were looking through everything on offer. Everyone was very grateful and touched by the act of kindness.”
The idea for the Kindness Boutique came about after the home received the donated items. Staff wanted to ensure they were distributed fairly while also encouraging residents to get involved socially. The pop-up boutique proved to be the perfect solution, combining fairness with an engaging and inclusive activity.
The atmosphere during the event was relaxed, cheerful, and full of conversation, with residents enjoying both the opportunity to choose items for themselves and the shared experience of browsing together. The day highlighted the strong sense of community Ivy Court and the positive impact that thoughtful, resident-focused activities can have on wellbeing.
Ivy Court remains committed to creating meaningful experiences that promote connection, dignity, and happiness for all residents.
