Residents and staff from Leawood Manor Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were delighted to take part in the annual Christmas Tree Festival held at Holy Rood Church on 6 and 7 December, celebrating community spirit and the joy of the festive season.

The Christmas Tree Festival invites care homes, schools, nurseries and local community groups to decorate and display a Christmas tree representing their organisation. In the lead-up to the event, residents at Leawood Manor worked together to create handmade decorations for their tree, enjoying the opportunity to express their creativity and prepare for the celebration.

Over the weekend, residents and staff visited Holy Rood Church to admire the many beautifully decorated trees on display. The visit also included listening to traditional Christmas carols, enjoying homemade cakes with a comforting cup of tea, and even trying their hand at bell ringing, with residents Marg and Lewis embracing the experience with enthusiasm.

The event was particularly meaningful for residents, many of whom have a strong spiritual connection and long-standing ties to the church. Taking part in the festival allowed residents to maintain these important links with the local community while enjoying a familiar and cherished Christmas tradition.

“Everyone loved seeing the amazing trees on display, each one unique and full of festive creativity. Our residents also enjoyed singing carols and soaking up the joyful Christmas atmosphere. Taking part in events like this is such an important way for us to stay connected with our local community, and it’s always a highlight of the festive season.”
said Sue Bekhet, Lifestyle Co-ordinator at Leawood Manor.

Leawood Manor is proud to support community events such as the Christmas Tree Festival, which offer residents opportunities for connection, reflection and celebration during the festive season.
