Residents at Liberty House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a wonderful day out on 6 January 2026 with a trip to Walkers Garden Centre, followed by a relaxing lunch, creating smiles, laughter, and cherished memories for everyone involved.
The outing gave residents the opportunity to explore the beautiful displays of flowers and plants, enjoy a change of scenery, and socialise in a relaxed and uplifting environment. The day was supported by Liberty House’s Lifestyle Coordinator, Kelley, who helped ensure the trip was enjoyable and accessible for all.
Resident Carrie shared her experience, saying:
“We had a lovely day out, it was a great treat. There was lots to see and we had a very delicious lunch.”
The positive impact of the visit was also noticed by the wider community. A member of staff at Walkers Garden Centre commented:
“It’s so nice to see what you do for your residents. The smiles on their faces show how happy they are and the benefits they get from getting out and about.”
Outings like this are an important part of life at Liberty House, supporting residents’ wellbeing by encouraging social interaction, relaxation, and meaningful engagement beyond the home. The idea for the trip came from residents’ shared love of visiting garden centres, with Walkers chosen as a favourite that had not been visited for some time.
The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with laughter and joy, with a standout moment coming when resident Joyce picked up a giant flower almost as tall as herself, causing plenty of belly laughs among residents and staff alike.
Liberty House remains committed to creating enriching experiences that support happiness, independence, and connection within the community.
