Navida, a talented 7-year-old from the local area, recently won a school cooking competition with her delicious chicken curry and rice, earning a £150 Chop Shop voucher. But instead of keeping the prize for herself, Navida decided to spread a little kindness in her community.
Although she doesn’t have a personal connection to Leatherland Lodge Care Home, Navida wanted to give back to a local care home. She visited the home with her mum to donate her voucher, surprising staff and residents alike. “We didn’t know she was coming, they just knocked on the door,” said Cheryl, Home Manager at Leatherland Lodge, “Navida’s mum explained that she had won a cookery competition and wanted to donate to us. We were overwhelmed by her generosity and the thoughtfulness she showed to our residents.”
Navida shared her excitement about participating in the competition. “I enjoy cooking, so I entered the school competition and was thrilled to win,” she said.
Staff at Leatherland Lodge were deeply touched by her kind gesture. “Navida was such a lovely, polite, and caring little girl. We’re sure she will go far with her cooking,” they added.
Navida’s thoughtful donation is a heartwarming reminder of how even the youngest members of our community can make a big difference.
