Residents, staff, and volunteers at Long View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently took a delightful bus trip to Swallows Aquatic, enjoying a leisurely walk around the grounds and a delicious meal together. The trip provided a wonderful opportunity for them to explore and reconnect with nature.
Several residents, accompanied by staff and volunteers, travelled on their bus to Swallows Aquatic, where they were able to take in the sights of various animals and aquatic life. The outing was a welcome change of scenery and a chance to socialise in a relaxed setting.
Resident Mary T expressed her joy, saying, “It was so nice getting out, and I loved my meal and seeing all the different animals and aquatic life!”
The trip was planned in response to residents expressing interest in revisiting Swallows Aquatic, as they had not been there in over a year. The atmosphere was lively and cheerful, with everyone thoroughly enjoying the experience. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the delicious lunch, which was praised by all.
Jessica Glennerster, Lifestyle Coordinator, emphasised the importance of such trips, stating, “It’s essential for residents to get out and explore different places, as it helps keep them engaged and connected with the wider community.”
The trip was a great success, fostering a sense of adventure and camaraderie among attendees. Plans are already underway for future outings to ensure residents continue to enjoy meaningful experiences beyond the home.
