Throughout February, resident Annette at Maun View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, took part in a creative and uplifting colouring challenge set by the Lifestyle Team, completing an impressive 42 pictures over the course of the month.
The challenge ran throughout February. A variety of themed pictures were provided, celebrating Valentine’s Day, Pancake Day, Chinese New Year, the month of love, and the beginning of spring. Annette’s completed artwork was proudly displayed in the activity room for fellow residents, relatives and staff to admire.
Lucy, Lifestyle Coordinator at Maun View, said:
“Its been really fun for Annette to do something all month that she loves and be recognised for her hard work.”
Annette shared her enthusiasm for the challenge, saying:
“I have loved doing this challenge, its been great.”
Annette, who lives with Parkinson’s Disease, finds colouring especially beneficial. The activity supports her hand dexterity and provides therapeutic relaxation. She describes colouring as her therapy and something she looks forward to, explaining that the challenge has truly cheered her up and motivated her to continue colouring for as long as possible.
The highlight of the month was seeing all 42 pictures displayed together in the activity room, a proud and celebratory moment for Annette, as well as a source of inspiration for the wider community.
This initiative reflects Maun View’s commitment to creating meaningful, person-centred activities that promote both physical and emotional wellbeing, ensuring residents have opportunities to engage in hobbies they love while feeling recognised for their achievements.
