Mayor of Watford Visits Greenbanks Care Home for Community Engagement Event
Residents and staff at Greenbanks Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, welcomed a special guest on 13th February, as Watford Mayor Peter Taylor paid a visit to connect with residents and discuss important community matters. The visit provided an opportunity for residents to express their thoughts, learn about local initiatives, and bring the wider community into their home.
Kirsty, Customer Relations Manager at Greenbanks, shared her thoughts on the event: “It was a lovely day inviting the mayor into our home and finding out what was happening in the local community. Our residents expressed their concerns and interests, truly bringing the community to them!”
The visit featured a warm and engaging discussion over tea and cake, where the mayor answered residents’ questions and shared updates on key local projects. Topics included improving public parks, the reopening of the Watford Colosseum, and an insight into Watford’s town motto, which translates from Latin into “Be Bold.”
Residents and staff were delighted by the mayor’s friendly and approachable nature. Peter Taylor himself praised the care home, saying, “I really enjoyed the visit. There is a great team and such lovely residents.”
The atmosphere throughout the event was cheerful, with music playing in the background and a delicious selection of tea, cakes, and sandwiches for all to enjoy. A standout moment of the day was when the mayor presented two dedicated Greenbanks employees with Star of the Month awards, recognising their outstanding contributions.
Kirsty highlighted the importance of such visits, explaining, “It’s important to bring the community together and keep our residents informed about what’s happening locally. While some may be unable to go out and about, bringing the community to them fosters connections and enhances their sense of belonging.”
The visit from Mayor Peter Taylor was a meaningful and enriching experience for everyone at Greenbanks, reinforcing the importance of strong community ties and ensuring that residents remain an active part of local life.
