Mulberry Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, proudly joined the nationwide Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning with a heartwarming event that brought together staff, residents, and visitors to raise funds for a vital cause.
The coffee morning was made extra special thanks to the dedication of resident Patricia (Pat), who played a central role in ensuring the fundraiser’s success. Pat stationed herself in the event area throughout the day, greeting everyone who passed by, encouraging them to stop for a cup of tea or coffee, and inspiring them to donate. She even chose to have her lunch in the same space so she could keep meeting people and supporting the cause without missing a moment.
Her enthusiasm quickly became the heartbeat of the event. “Pat was brilliant today. She made sure we all stopped for a tea and a chat there was no slipping past her without donating. Loved being part of it,” said Marcel, a staff member at Mulberry Court.
Lifestyle Coordinator Bhashia Jayalinda Deegallla praised Pat’s contribution: “This event was not just about raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support it was about empowering residents to take an active role in something meaningful. Pat showed us how older adults can inspire and lead with incredible energy and kindness.”
The event raised much-needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, which provides vital assistance to people living with cancer and their families. It also reinforced the importance of community, connection, and the value of giving back.
At Mulberry Court, residents like Pat continue to show that age is no barrier to making a difference.
