Staff, residents, family members, and even visitors at Mulberry Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together in a show of incredible teamwork, determination, and community spirit to complete a sponsored static bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats, all in just five days!
Originally planned as a week-long event starting Monday 30th June, the team set up exercise bikes in the home’s reception and pedalled their way through a virtual 874-mile journey, completing it two days ahead of schedule on Friday 4th July. Participants included care staff, a couple of enthusiastic residents, visiting family members, nursing staff, and even a courier who joined in the fun! Their combined efforts raised an impressive £800 for the resident amenities fund.
The event was filled with energy, laughter, and encouragement from visitors who cheered on the riders daily. A key highlight came from resident Tony, who proudly clocked up 5 miles using a mini exercise machine brought around to ensure everyone could take part in their own way.
Home Manager Marie Zsentko shared her pride in the entire Mulberry Court community, commenting “Well done to all of you who took part in our sponsored bike ride, staff, relatives, and residents. We well and truly smashed it! What an amazing achievement, filled with laughter and fun.”
The journey may have been virtual, but the impact was very real, lifting spirits, strengthening bonds, and proving once again that at Mulberry Court, anything is possible when the community comes together.
