On the 17th October, Orchard Blythe care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, celebrated the completion of a creative and community-driven project that has brightened the home’s garden. Over the past few weeks, staff, residents, families, and visitors came together to paint garden pebbles in vibrant colours, forming a decorative “pebble snake” now proudly displayed in the outdoor space.
The project unfolded over several weeks, with participants contributing on occasional free days. Pebbles were collected from around the Coleshill area, cleaned, and distributed to staff, residents, families, and visitors, including NHS nurses, who all took part in painting the stones. Afterward, the pebbles were varnished for protection and arranged in the garden to form a colourful snake-shaped display.
This collaborative art project has united the Orchard Blythe care home community, adding a creative touch to the ongoing beautification of the garden.
Michelle, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Orchard Blythe care home, commented:
“It was lovely to see all the different designs everyone involved made. The creativity was amazing, and it’s wonderful to have this colourful display in our garden for all to enjoy.”
A resident at Orchard Blythe, shared:
“It was really good to use my creative skills and be part of something so special.” and a family member added:
“We were happy to see our mom enjoying herself with her friends. It was a heartwarming experience for everyone.”
The Garden Pebbles project is part of Orchard Blythe care home’s ongoing initiative to promote creativity, inclusion, and collaboration among all members of the community. The care home looks forward to continuing similar projects that engage and unite everyone.
