Park View care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, held a fantastic Grease-themed dress-up and movie day on the 26th of September, transforming the home into a celebration of 1950s culture. As part of Runwood’s ‘50s theme,’ residents, staff, and even some relatives embraced the fun by dressing up in costumes inspired by the iconic film Grease. The home’s coffee shop was converted into a makeshift cinema, where everyone gathered to enjoy a special screening of the movie.
Staff and residents came together, dressed as T-Birds, Pink Ladies, and other beloved characters from Grease, truly immersing themselves in the theme. The fun-filled day was made complete with a taste of classic American diner food, including hot dogs, fries, popcorn, and cakes, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere.
Park View’s Deputy Manager Alicia expressed her delight with the event, saying, “We all had such a fabulous day, and everyone enjoyed watching the movie in cinema style. I love how the staff are taking part in these event days. It’s bringing the home together as one team, one home, one goal — ensuring that our residents are happy, safe, and well cared for.”
The residents, too, were thrilled with the celebration. Veronica, a resident of Park View, shared, “Everyone looks so fun! What a lovely day, and everyone is so happy.” Veronica joined the staff in dressing up as a Pink Lady, adding to the joy of the occasion.
Park View’s Lifestyle Coordinator Bridie emphasised the positive impact of the day, saying, “It was such an amazing day. It was lovely to see the residents enjoy the day and have a cinema-style experience. It really brought positive energy to everyone.”
This Grease-themed day highlights Park View’s commitment to creating engaging and memorable experiences for residents, focusing on community spirit and shared happiness.
