The Whitecroft Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is celebrating the artistic talents of one of their residents, Waldo, whose love for painting and colouring has become a cherished part of his daily routine.

Lifestyle Coordinator, Talisha, shared how the resident has been actively engaged in arts and crafts, a passion that his family encouraged staff to incorporate into his activities. “Whenever his family visits, they motivate him to continue colouring, and our staff always make sure he is involved in creative projects,” Smith said.

Waldo’s artwork reflects his past experiences and travels, with some paintings inspired by destinations he has visited. His recent colouring pieces, completed during group arts and crafts sessions, have been praised for their creativity. One standout moment was when he coloured the same flower using two different techniques, producing two strikingly unique results.

“Engaging in these activities keeps him calm and happy,” Smith added. “His artwork allows him to express himself, and we’ve made it a priority to include it in his daily routine.”

The quiet and focused atmosphere during his solo sessions contrasts with group activities, where he prefers to work independently. Families and friends have commended his artistic skills, and his work has become a source of joy and admiration within the home.

At The Whitecroft, fostering creativity and personal interests is a key part of ensuring residents’ well-being and Waldo’s artistic journey is a testament to the positive impact of meaningful engagement.
