The festive spirit is in full swing at Windmill House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, as residents, their relatives, and volunteers joined together to deck the halls and transform their home into a Christmas wonderland.
The day began with boxes of ornaments, lights, and festive decorations being unpacked by eager hands. Residents took part in every step of the process, from unfolding the branches of Christmas trees to carefully placing decorations and stringing up twinkling lights. Laughter filled the air as everyone shared memories of past Christmases while crafting a cosy and festive environment.
In addition to sparking fond memories, the event offered residents a sense of achievement and belonging, reinforcing that Windmill House is not just a residence but a home. The collaborative effort encouraged gentle physical activity, provided orientation to the season, and created a heartwarming atmosphere for all involved.
One of the residents expressed her joy, saying:
“I like to be busy, and the trees look so lovely. This is my favourite time of year.”
