Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was delighted to make a wish come true for three of its residents with a special shopping trip to Lakeside Shopping Centre on 04 February 2026.
The outing was organised after residents expressed how much they missed going clothes shopping together. The day formed part of Rosedale Court’s commitment to supporting residents to stay connected with the wider community and enjoy meaningful, person-centred experiences.
Residents and staff enjoyed a sunny bus journey to Lakeside, taking in the scenery along the way, including spotting a windmill during the trip.
Once at Lakeside, the ladies enjoyed exploring two floors of Primark, choosing and purchasing new clothes, followed by a visit to the perfume shop to sample their favourite scents. Lunch was enjoyed in the food court, where Burger King proved a real highlight, before finishing the day with cake from one of the Lakeside stalls. The residents also loved watching young families shopping and chatting with shop staff throughout the day.
The trip received lovely feedback from both the local community and residents. A Primark counter assistant commented, “It’s been lovely serving you all today.” A member of the community added, “You can really tell you genuinely love your job by the way you are making the ladies’ shopping so much fun.”
The residents themselves shared their joy from the experience. Pat said, “This has been the best day ever. Lovely shopping and I have met new friends too. I am so pleased with my new jumper.”
Lilian commented, “I love looking at all the clothes and it’s nice to be out doing some shopping with the ladies. I’ve wanted to go shopping for a while.”
Ingrid added, “Oh my god, I could spend all day in here shopping, and the prices are fantastic. Having a Burger King for lunch has been a real treat! Thank you so much for taking us.”
The atmosphere throughout the day was fun, engaging and full of laughter, with plenty of giggles, great bargains and wonderful smiles all round. Stand-out moments included choosing and trying on outfits independently and enjoying the lively surroundings of the shopping centre.
Rosedale Court continues to focus on creating meaningful experiences that promote independence, joy and community connection for all residents.
