Rosedale Court Residents Step Back in Time with Historian Simon Waterfield

War Time Talk

Rosedale Court care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, was delighted to welcome back historian speaker Simon Waterfield for another captivating afternoon of storytelling with residents, families and staff.

Simon, who has now visited Rosedale Court for the third time, delivered an engaging and heartfelt session, sharing wartime stories through his grandfather’s eyes. Using authentic memorabilia including ration books, gas masks, newspapers and vintage food tins, Simon brought history to life in a way that was both educational and deeply moving. His artefacts sparked conversation, memories and thoughtful discussion amongst everyone present.

The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was described as interesting, factual and intriguing, with residents fully immersed in the storytelling and fascinated by the historical artefacts on display.
