Silvanna Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is proud to continue its much-loved annual tradition, the Silvanna Court Wishing Tree, a heartfelt wellbeing initiative designed to make residents feel valued, celebrated, and truly special.
Led by Leah and Deby, Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coordinators at Silvanna Court, the project invites residents to share personal wishes that would make them feel happy, appreciated, and uplifted. Over the past few days, residents’ wishes have been collected and will be carried out throughout the year, with many already being fulfilled this week.
The initiative has already seen several wishes brought to life, including planning a trip to Tiptree Jams, organising a traditional pie and mash day, and providing one resident with Elvis CDs so she can enjoy listening to her favourite music in her room whenever she chooses.
The project involves the wider team at Silvanna Court, making it a truly community-led experience focused on wellbeing, inclusion, and happiness.
Resident Carmel shared her thoughts on the initiative, saying:
“How lovely it is for you to treat us all so special! This has given us something to look forward to.”
Leah and Deby explained the importance of the project:
“For mental health and wellbeing, it is extremely important to make residents feel happy, valued, and special. While we aim to do this daily and through our monthly ‘Resident of the Day’ programme, these wishes are extra special and help residents feel truly loved and appreciated.”
The Wishing Tree has been a cherished tradition at Silvanna Court for the past four years and will continue to be a central part of the home’s culture and community spirit every year.
The emotional highlights have already been deeply moving, from seeing Janet smiling as she listened to her Elvis CD, to the joy on another resident’s face as she dreamed of her traditional pie and mash meal, bringing back fond memories of her days working in local pie and mash shops.
