Tallis House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is celebrating the joy of wishes coming true after the first success of its heartfelt “Make A Wish” project, an initiative designed to grant residents’ personal wishes the year.
As part of the project, residents were invited to write their wishes on tags and place them on a specially created Wish Tree. Over the coming months, each wish will be granted with the help of staff members and residents’ relatives. Jennifer became the very first resident to have her wish fulfilled on the 3rd of February 2026.
Jennifer’s wish was a bold and beautiful one: she had always dreamed of having purple hair. After carefully researching shades herself, she chose the perfect colour, “Lilac Crush.” With the support of Tallis House staff and the home’s regular visiting hairdresser, Jennifer’s vision became a reality during a joyful makeover session.
The atmosphere on the day was full of excitement and emotion. Jennifer was overjoyed throughout the transformation and couldn’t stop smiling when she finally saw her new look. The standout moment came when the styling was complete and Jennifer looked at herself and proudly said, “I look beautiful.” She later shared her gratitude, saying, “You made this happen for me. Thank you, I love it!”
This moment was especially meaningful, as Jennifer had always wanted purple hair but had never previously had the opportunity to make it happen. The wish project, inspired by the Runwood Homes Group commitment to person-centred care, ensures that residents’ individuality and choices remain at the heart of daily life.
Following her makeover, Jennifer is already planning which colour she would like to try next which is a true reflection of the confidence and happiness this experience has brought.
Tallis House looks forward to granting many more wishes from the Wish Tree over the year, continuing to create memorable, meaningful moments for every resident.
