Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was thrilled to welcome back The Mushroom Theatre Group – Equal Opportunities for a vibrant and joy-filled visit on 19 November 2025. The event helped to strengthen the home’s special relationship with the theatre group.

Residents, families, staff and community performers came together for an afternoon bursting with music, dance, games and heart-warming interactions. The Mushroom Theatre Group, led by Founder Penni Bubb, filled the lounges with infectious energy, lifting spirits and creating memorable moments for everyone involved.

The visit featured an exciting range of activities including ball games with knitted balls, lively group singing to classics such as Crocodile Rock, Grease Lightnin’ and The Twist, and a joyful jam session with musical instruments. Rosedale Court residents also enjoyed their first Christmas song of the year, I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every day, setting the tone for the festive season ahead.

There were many heartfelt reactions from the community:

Penni Bubb, Founder of the Mushroom Theatre Group said:
“It is so wonderful to be back to see you all at Rosedale Court. We love the community connection we have made with you and can’t wait to be back again in the summer.”

Family Members of residents also commented:

  • Pauline, daughter of a resident said: “It’s been absolutely brilliant and Mum has really loved it.”
  • Peter, son of a resident: “I’ve never seen anything like this before, it’s been fantastic.”

The residents also expressed their joy:

  • “They are fantastic and so much fun.”
  • “I just love the youngsters and gave them all a cuddle.”
  • “I’m so glad I got to see them again; I really enjoyed it.”

This special partnership between Rosedale Court, The Mushroom Theatre Group, and PALS continues to be an important part of residents’ wellbeing. The strong community connection created by these visits brings enrichment, interaction, and joy, something residents look forward to deeply.

Louise, Lifestyle Coordinator at Rosedale Court, said the idea for this event came simply from reaching out:
“I contacted Penni to arrange for another visit as we always know how much everyone enjoys it.”

The atmosphere throughout the visit was electric and filled with laughter, singing, dancing and knitted balls flying across the lounges as residents giggled and smiled from ear to ear. Staff, families, carers, the Lifestyle Team, and The Mushroom Theatre PALS all joined in, creating a shared experience that was nothing short of magical.

The entire event was a highlight. The joy, energy and togetherness made it truly special. Rosedale Court looks forward to continuing this relationship and arranging more events like this in the future.
