The Whitecroft Care Home Welcomes Treetops Students for a Heartwarming Day of Fun

Residents of The Whitecroft Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a lively and heartwarming visit from the students and their teachers from local school, Treetops, on 10th January. The collaborative event brought generations together for a day of shared activities, laughter, and music.

The visit began with warm introductions, as students and teachers spent one-on-one time with residents, playing jigsaw puzzles and serving hot drinks and treats. The highlight of the day was a karaoke session in the lounge, where residents, students, and staff came together to sing and celebrate.

“The lounge was buzzing with chatter and laughter, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made residents feel comfortable and engaged,” shared the Lifestyle Coordinator. “It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves.”

A particularly touching moment came during the karaoke session when a resident, typically reserved, joined staff and students in singing “Let It Be” by The Beatles. She sang with clear vocals and joy in her eyes, a moment that deeply moved everyone present.

The event not only brought joy to the residents but also offered Treetops School students, many of whom have learning disabilities, a sensory and interactive experience. “The jigsaw puzzles helped stimulate residents’ memories while providing a fun activity for the students. The sing-along was a shared love that brought everyone together,” explained the Lifestyle Coordinator.

The day highlighted the power of community, connection, and shared experiences, creating memories that will be cherished by residents, students, and staff alike. The Whitecroft look forward to further opportunities like this.
