Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, marked World Kindness Day on 15th November 2025 with a creative and meaningful activity that brought residents together to reflect on the true spirit of kindness.
Led by Carlie, Lifestyle Coordinator at Windmill House, the morning arts and crafts session invited residents to decorate a selection of wooden Christmas ornaments, choosing from festive shapes such as Christmas trees, church bells, stockings, and reindeer. Alongside the crafts, residents were asked to share what kindness meant to them. Their thoughtful responses were written inside paper Christmas baubles.
Once all the decorations and baubles were complete, they were gathered and hung together to create a beautiful Kindness Christmas Garland, now proudly displayed within the home.
Carlie shared that the activity encouraged warm and meaningful conversations among residents. “It’s important to reflect on kindness, and it was so interesting to hear what it means to different people. It opened up so many lovely conversations,” she said.
Residents enjoyed the creative session, the festive spirit, and the opportunity to share personal reflections on kindness, creating a sense of connection and unity throughout the home.
The atmosphere during the event was warm, uplifting, and filled with gentle festive cheer.
Stand-out moments included hearing the thoughtful and touching definitions of kindness shared by residents, each adding a personal spark to the final garland.
Windmill House remains committed to creating activities that inspire connection, reflection, and togetherness, especially during the festive season.
