Windmill House Goes Wild for Country & Western Day

Copy of Blue Professional Project Proposal Presentation

Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was transformed into a scene straight out of the Wild West as residents, staff, and relatives gathered for a fun-filled Country & Western Themed Day titled “Welcome to the Wild West.”

The home’s car park was converted into a vibrant Western-style showground, complete with decorations, themed outfits, and country charm. Staff, residents, and visitors embraced the occasion by dressing up as cowboys and cowgirls.

Carlie Phillips, Lifestyle Coordinator at Windmill House commented:
“It’s important to bring everyone together to enjoy different themed events that involve all and strengthen our sense of community spirit. This event was fun and exactly what we hoped for.”

A volunteer line dancing group, led by Paul’s Group, kicked off the festivities with a live performance followed by a fun and inclusive beginners’ class. Residents, staff, and family members joined in, creating a standout moment.

Lunch featured a hearty Western-themed menu including hot dogs, burgers, jacket potatoes, and chilli, while the afternoon brought live entertainment from Tony, who performed classic Country & Western hits. Refreshments were served throughout the day from “The Windmill Arms”, the home’s mobile bar. 513643839 1227779832472403 402334023042094918 Wellbeing Windmill

The event was developed by the Lifestyle Team in collaboration with residents, who chose the Country & Western theme. It was a resounding success, with a lively and upbeat atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of the Wild West.
