The team and residents at Windmill House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, hosted a heartwarming Minnie & Mickey Mouse Day on 12th February to support Sunny Days Charity and raise funds for a very special little boy, Ermir. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and a rare genetic condition called Weaver Syndrome, funds raised will go towards purchasing a new buggy for him.
Residents, families, friends, and staff came together for a hamper raffle, a bake sale featuring Minnie and Mickey Mouse-themed cupcakes, and a sing-along morning. The event was a huge success, raising £173.55, and resident Gilly was thrilled to win the hamper.
The event brought the community together, combining fun and creativity with a meaningful cause. Steph Gilding said the day was full of “love, happiness, and cheer”, as everyone contributed to making a difference for Ermir. Attendees shared their praise and excitement for the event, with many congratulating the team on a fantastic day.
The idea for the event came after Sunny Days Charity approached Windmill House to see if they could help raise funds, which was met with an enthusiastic “yes”. The celebration highlighted the importance of community, friendship, and coming together to support a worthy cause.
