Residents at Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were treated to a unique and educational experience this week, as Evie Owls visited the home with a selection of beautiful birds of prey.
The visit, which took place on the morning of 7 April, introduced residents to a barn owl and a tawny owl, offering a rare opportunity to see the birds up close, gently interact with them, and learn more about their habitats and life in the wild.
The session was highly engaging, with residents, staff, family members, and the wider community coming together to share in the experience. Many residents expressed their enjoyment, with one commenting, “A fantastic morning, really enjoyed learning about the different owls,” while others described the visit as “beautiful” and “a wonderful treat.”
The atmosphere throughout the morning was filled with joy, curiosity, and meaningful interaction, as residents connected not only with the animals but also with one another and their visitors.
Following the success of the visit, Windmill House has already arranged future animal visits, including goats and rabbits, in response to residents’ enthusiasm.
