Residents and their loved ones at Windmill House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed a heartwarming Valentine’s Day celebration on the 14th of February, organised by Steph, Lifestyle Coordinator.

The event featured a visit from Mr Jack Valentine, a Norfolk tradition, who spread love throughout the morning by gifting chocolates and red roses to residents. Guests also enjoyed a special afternoon tea with prosecco for some residents and their partners, accompanied by live music from the talented Anna. Steph’s husband kindly stepped in as Jack Valentine, making the morning even more memorable.

The celebration involved staff, families, and friends, all coming together to create a magical and joyful atmosphere. Steph said the event was about bringing “joy, happiness, and spreading love to all.” The faces of residents receiving their gifts were the standout moment of the day, with smiles, laughter, and even a few tears of happiness shared throughout.

The idea for the celebration came from Steph’s own family tradition. “Jack Valentine has always been a tradition through the years in my family – from my grandparents spreading love to me and my sisters, to my mum now spreading love to her grandchildren. We wanted to bring this joy into the home for all residents,” said Steph.

SA, the daughter of a resident, shared her appreciation: “WOW – just look at those smiles. Looks like you had a brilliant day. Thank you to everyone that made it happen.”

The Valentine’s Day celebration at Windmill House was a memorable occasion, highlighting the importance of community, love, and happiness within the care home.
