Residents, staff, and families at Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were treated to a lively morning as they came together to celebrate the music and legacy of Elvis Presley.
The special event took place on 26 March and featured live entertainment from Elvis tribute performer Barry, who had everyone singing along and dancing from start to finish. The morning was organised in response to residents sharing fond memories of Elvis as a defining pop icon from their younger years.
The atmosphere throughout the event was electric, with residents and staff filling the room with energy as they danced and sang along to classic hits. A particularly heartwarming highlight was when Elvis spent time dancing one-on-one with residents, creating personal moments that will be treasured.
Family members and volunteers were equally delighted by the celebration. One resident’s daughter shared, “Oh my gosh, that’s awesome,” while a volunteer described it as a “brilliant morning,” adding that Elvis was a “true gentleman, flirting with the ladies.” Another attendee joked that after the performance, residents were truly “all shook up.”
The event brought together the entire Windmill House community, reinforcing the importance of music, movement, and shared experiences in enhancing wellbeing.
