Winnie Meadows at Orchard Blythe care home reaches 105 years old

Winnie Meadows at Orchard Blythe care home in Coleshill, Warwickshire, celebrated another impressive milestone by reaching 105 years old.

Born on the 5th of November 1917, Winnie was one of 11 children to a very large family and has always lived in the Birmingham area.

Winne spoke to the team at the home about the many hardships she endured as a young adult and the loss of many family members during the war era. She also went into detail about her marriage to her wonderful husband, Albert, or as she likes to call him Albie, and their beautiful daughter Judith.

The team learnt about the various manual jobs in Winne’s lifetime, including working hard in the factories and cleaning for various companies.

In 2018, Winnie made Orchard Blythe her permanent home-from-home and frequently reminisces on past stories in the family photo album with many of the staff at the home.

She celebrated her 105th birthday surrounded by the wonderful team, with a large cake, a beautiful hamper, and a selection of delicious chocolates.

Wellbeing Lead, Michelle Lansdown, commented on her birthday celebrations and reaching this momentous occasion.

She said: ‘We are so happy to be celebrating this huge occasion with Winnie and learned so much about her life growing up in Birmingham and all that she has achieved up until this moment.’
