Residents of Woodbury Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were all smiles as they set sail on a delightful boat trip at Paper Mill Lock, soaking up the sunshine, fresh air, and beautiful scenery on Monday 27th April.

The event was organised as part of Woodbury Court’s ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of its residents. It offered a refreshing change of pace and a chance to reconnect with nature, all while creating lasting memories for the participants.

Staff members accompanied residents throughout the trip, ensuring their comfort and safety. The day also included refreshments, cake, and plenty of photo opportunities. The boat cruise was arranged with accessibility in mind, ensuring that all residents, regardless of mobility, could participate.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth, nostalgia, and excitement, especially for resident Eddie, who has a love for sailing and had this trip arranged as part of his ‘Make A Wish.’ For many, the experience brought back fond memories of past outings and seaside holidays.

Eddie shared his joy for the trip, commenting, “We had such a wonderful time. It was peaceful and relaxing, and the views were absolutely lovely. I am so thankful that the trip went ahead!”

Eddie was joined by fellow Woodbury Court residents Barbara and Margaret, with both ladies also previously enjoying holidays on yachts and narrowboats.

Woodbury Court plans to offer similar outings in the coming months, continuing its dedication to providing vibrant, engaging lifestyles for its residents. Manager Mel shared, “These kinds of experiences mean the world to our residents. Getting out into the community and enjoying days like this helps improve well-being and brings so much joy.”
