Earlier this month, Dunelm invited Woodbury Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, residents to write their Christmas wishes on individual tags, which were then displayed on the store’s Christmas tree for members of the public to select and fulfil. A total of 96 wish tags, one for every resident were created.
The team at Woodbury Court visited the Dunelm Basildon store to collect the gifts, where they were met with an overwhelming sight: piles of beautifully wrapped presents, donated by caring members of the community.
“Residents were amazed to see just how many presents had been collected,” said Home Manager, Mel. “This means the world to us, especially as many of our residents do not have family. Knowing they will each have a gift to open on Christmas Day is incredibly special.”
The atmosphere during the visit was full of excitement and joy, with residents delighted to see the generosity firsthand. Staff shared that the number of gifts was so great, they could barely fit under the Christmas tree.
Woodbury Court extends its heartfelt thanks to Dunelm Basildon and every community member who took part.
“We have been blown away by this kind and generous donation,” Mel added. “Even though times are hard, people are still so incredibly generous.”
