Eastham Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is proud to announce that one of its remarkable residents, 98-year-old Harry, is set to take on an extraordinary challenge, a wing walk at Duxford in May this year.
This inspiring feat began as a simple resident wish and has grown into something truly special, reflecting the compassionate and empowering environment fostered at Eastham. The home has a strong tradition of supporting meaningful initiatives, including its recent efforts to create a charity parcel of gifts for the Basildon Children and Family Centre during the Christmas period.
In preparation for the wing walk, Harry has been working closely with Reef, physiotherapist, to build his strength and fitness. His journey highlights the home’s commitment to person-centred care, supporting residents to pursue their passions, no matter their age, while promoting independence, wellbeing, and achievement.
Harry will be completing the wing walk in support of Lennox Children’s Charity, a cause that is very close to his heart. His determination to give back while embracing such a daring experience is a testament to his character and spirit.
The excitement around Harry’s challenge continues to grow, with BBC Essex visiting the home this week to interview Harry, alongside the Karolyn, Home Manager and Reef, capturing this uplifting story for a wider audience.
Everyone at Eastham Care Home is immensely proud of Harry and will be cheering him on as he takes to the skies later this spring and look forward to sharing future updates.
