Residents, families and members of the local community came together at Greenbanks Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, on 14 February 2026 for a heart-warming Valentine’s Party that welcomed around 100 guests for an afternoon of music, food and fundraising.
The event, held at Greenbanks, was filled with joy as residents celebrated alongside loved ones and friends. The idea for the celebration was developed in discussion with residents and their families, who felt it would be a wonderful opportunity to bring everyone together to mark Valentine’s Day in style.
The party featured two hours of live music, with a talented singer performing some of the most beautiful love songs ever written. Many residents sang along, creating an emotional and electric atmosphere that left guests smiling throughout the afternoon.
Guests enjoyed a delicious selection of hot food and cakes, including homemade treats prepared by staff member Trina. Generous donations from Costco and Asda helped make the event extra special, alongside a thoughtful donation of 60 roses from a mystery supporter.
The celebration also had a charitable focus, with funds raised for Age UK. Thanks to the generosity of attendees and the suggestion from the marketing team to support the charity, an impressive £250 was raised on the day.
One of the standout moments of the afternoon was seeing residents chatting and connecting with people they had not met before, strengthening bonds within the Greenbanks community. Many were overwhelmed by the fantastic turnout and the warmth in the room.
Greenbanks extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, donated and supported the event. The Valentine’s Party was not only a celebration of love, but a powerful reminder of the importance of community, connection and shared happiness.
