Residents from Redbond Lodge Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a lovely summer to Cammas Hall Fruit Farm for a traditional “Pick Your Own” experience.
Residents Iris, Peter, Frances, Doreen, and Pam spent the day selecting the best strawberries and raspberries before relaxing with a delicious lunch at the farm’s café.
The visit was inspired by a local church magazine’s seasonal advertisement and came at the perfect time of year to enjoy the fruit harvest. The atmosphere was full of excitement and nostalgia, especially as the group was warmly greeted by a friendly group of cyclists upon arrival.
“The residents were thrilled to pick fruit just like they did in years gone by,” said Karen Briggs, Lifestyle Coordinator at Redbond Lodge. “It was a truly wonderful day that brought everyone together.”
The outing not only provided residents with an opportunity to engage socially and enjoy the fresh outdoors, but also supported wellbeing through reminiscence, gentle activity, and connection with the local community.
With a sense of calm enjoyment, the trip was a standout success. One resident summed it up perfectly: “We’ve all had the most wonderful day.”
