On 15th January, Residents and staff of Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a heartwarming day out, filled with history, laughter, and cherished family moments. Organised by Louise, the Lifestyle Co-ordinator, the trip included a visit to Chelmsford Museum followed by a delightful lunch at The Downham Arms in Wickford.
The outing brought together five residents – Shirley, Anita, Dorothy, Clifford, and Ricky. – along with family members and staff. Residents were joined by the daughters of Shirley, Dorothy, and Anita, creating a truly inclusive and memorable experience.
The group began their day exploring the fascinating exhibits at Chelmsford Museum, which highlight Essex’s rich industrial history. For many residents, the museum’s artefacts evoked fond memories of the past. “It was wonderful looking at the history of Marconi,” said resident Ricky.
The museum’s coffee lounge, with its original decor, was a standout moment for many. The residents enjoyed a relaxed coffee break while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. “I loved looking at all the artefacts with my daughter,” shared Anita.
After their museum visit, the group headed to The Downham Arms for a delicious lunch. The meal was met with high praise from everyone involved. “What a fabulous day, so much to see. We get to do so much at Rosedale Court, and the lunch was superb,” commented Clifford.
The day was filled with laughter and joy, with the atmosphere buzzing with excitement. Singing on the bus and lively conversations around the dining table brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Lifestyle Co-ordinator, Louise Healy, emphasised the importance of such outings: “Trips like this allow our residents to connect with memories from their past while building new experiences with their loved ones. It’s a wonderful way to include families and create shared moments of joy.”
The idea for the visit came from the Lifestyle Team, who had previously explored Chelmsford Museum and recognised its potential to spark meaningful memories for new residents.
The success of the outing highlights the commitment of the Rosedale Court Lifestyle Team to providing enriching and inclusive activities for residents. With laughter, singing, and the warmth of family bonds, the trip was a testament to the power of community and connection.
For Rosedale Court, it was more than just a day out – it was a celebration of life’s simple yet profound joys.
