Alice and Neville’s love story is one built on friendship, shared values and a lifetime of commitment. Now residents at Orchard Blythe care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, the couple have been happily married for an incredible 70 years.
Alice and Neville first met while working together, sharing a simple moment in a canteen as they waited for a cup of tea. Their first date was a long walk in the countryside, where they spent time getting to know one another and discovering a shared outlook on life.
After a couple of years, Alice and Neville married and went on to raise two children together, building a family life grounded in love, respect and partnership. Over the decades, their marriage has been shaped by mutual support, laughter and deep understanding – qualities that have helped them navigate life side by side.
Reflecting on the secret to a long and happy marriage, Alice shares her heartfelt advice: “Respect, love and knowing your partner.” It is a philosophy that has guided their relationship for seven decades and continues to define their bond today.
Now living together at Orchard Blythe care home, Alice and Neville remain devoted companions, enjoying each other’s company and sharing their remarkable story with those around them. Their enduring love serves as a powerful reminder that the most meaningful relationships are often built on simple beginnings and nurtured over a lifetime.
This heartwarming relationship is being shared as part of Runwood Homes’ company-wide initiative, Valentine’s Takeover at Runwood Homes — a special week dedicated to celebrating love in all its forms, from friendship and companionship to kindness and care across Runwood Homes communities.
