Westwood care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently took a step back in time with a lively 1920s-themed day, bringing the golden age of jazz, flappers, and glamour to life. The event, which took place on 14th November 2024, filled the home with music, laughter, and a touch of vintage charm, as residents, staff, and family members came together to celebrate the Roaring Twenties.

The whole day was a trip down memory lane, with the residents, staff, and family members donning their finest 1920s-inspired attire. Westwood was transformed into a vibrant scene from the Jazz Age, with decorations that transported everyone back to an era of flapper dresses, bow ties, and swing music.

In the afternoon, guests were treated to a special performance by talented singer Keeley, who serenaded the crowd with a selection of 1920s classics. The room was filled with the energy of residents, family, and staff, all up on their feet, dancing and singing along to the familiar tunes. The joy was palpable, with everyone embracing the spirit of the event, creating wonderful memories together.

Keeley’s performance was the highlight of the day, filling the air with nostalgic melodies that encouraged everyone to join in the fun. The room echoed with laughter and the rhythmic sound of happy feet as the group shared in the music, making the day truly special for all involved.

Natasha and Chloe, Lifestyle Coordinators at Westwood Care Home, shared their thoughts:

“The 1920s day was such a fantastic occasion, and we were thrilled to see everyone getting into the spirit of it. The residents loved the chance to dress up and enjoy the music from their younger years. It was a great way to bring people together and create some unforgettable memories!”

The 1920s day at Westwood is an example of the home’s commitment to providing unique and enjoyable experiences for its residents. Through events like these, Westwood continues to celebrate the past while creating new memories that will be cherished for years to come.
