Blackthorns Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved accreditation under the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF), officially recognising the home as a Veteran Friendly Care Home. This milestone makes Blackthorns the second Runwood home to gain this important accreditation.
The achievement follows three months of dedicated work and close collaboration between Blackthorns’ VFF Champions and the VFF Lead, ensuring the home meets the highest standards in supporting veterans living within the home and the wider community.
Positive feedback was shared by Kathryn Glass, VFF Lead, who congratulated the team, saying:
“Thank you for meeting with me today to allow me to share the good news that Blackthorns Care Home has successfully achieved VFF status and are now a Veteran Friendly Care Home.”
The journey towards accreditation began in September, when the first meetings took place and the importance of veteran support was recognised by the team. From that point, VFF Champions Sarah, Michelle, and Flavia worked closely together to embed veteran-friendly practices across the home.
Achieving Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation highlights Blackthorns Care Home, ongoing commitment to recognising, supporting, and honouring those who have served, ensuring they receive the understanding, respect, and tailored care they deserve.
