Bramwell Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was filled with festive energy on 9 December as 25 enthusiastic children from the Beavers Scout Group, accompanied by their parents and group leaders, visited the home. The lively intergenerational event brought joy, music, and companionship to residents and families.
Residents enjoyed an afternoon of fun games, cheerful carol singing, and warm conversations as the Beavers spread Christmas spirit throughout the home. The visit created a vibrant, uplifting atmosphere that residents described as joyful and energizing, marking a wonderful start to the Christmas season.
Home Manager at Bramwell Care Home, Mable, praised the event, saying:
“This event was important as it boosts residents’ emotional well-being. Hearing children sing carols brings joy, reduces loneliness, and lifts the mood of residents. The innocence and energy of young children often spark smiles, laughter, and positive memories.”
Family members also shared their appreciation:
“It was beautiful — the Beavers brought the energy to Bramwell.”
“Thank you so much, my lovely auntie loved this!”
“It’s a Beaver takeover!”
The idea for the visit came from a residents’ meeting, where many expressed a desire to spend time with children, play games, and enjoy Christmas carols together. The Beavers were delighted to help make this wish come true.
Such intergenerational activities play an important role in boosting residents’ emotional well-being. The children’s innocence and energy sparked smiles, laughter, and happy memories, reducing feelings of loneliness and bringing a strong sense of community.
The atmosphere throughout the event was festive, full of life, and enhanced by laughter, soft chatter, and sparkling Christmas decorations.
Standout moments included the children’s lively carol singing, which filled the home with warmth and joy.
Bramwell Care Home looks forward to welcoming the Beavers Scout Group back again for more shared moments and smiles.
