Residents from Brewster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were among around 100 attendees who came together for a vibrant Summer Picnic in the Park on Wednesday 25th June, hosted through the FaNs Network. The event brought together care homes from across the area for a fun-filled afternoon of connection, music, and sunshine.
Residents and staff from Brewster House combined the outing with a ‘Runwood Ramblers’ walk to the park, where they were welcomed with scones, strawberries, and Pimms, generously donated by Tesco Maldon. Brewster House also brought along sandwiches to share, and residents enjoyed meeting new people, chatting, and singing along to live entertainment provided by a talented local performer.
Lifestyle Coordinator Leoni Kempen shared, “It was lovely to see so many residents from all the local care homes coming together for a fun afternoon.”
The idea for the picnic originated from the monthly FaNs Network meetings, where care home teams collaborate and share ideas. With the support and coordination of FaNs Champion Rhiain, the event was brought to life, creating a space for both residents and staff to connect.
The event highlighted the importance of community and collaboration. A clear highlight of the day was seeing new friendships blossom, as residents from different homes came together to laugh, chat, and celebrate the summer.
