Broomhills Care Home Wins with Recycled Christmas Wreath

On 2nd January, residents and staff at Broomhills Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together to create a stunning Christmas wreath made entirely from recycled materials. The project, which was part of a competition, highlighted the creativity and teamwork of everyone involved.

The initiative was led by Lifestyle Coordinator, Nicola Newman, Maintenance Man, Chris Adams and several enthusiastic residents, including Irene, Jackie, Sheila, and Alice. The group collaborated on every step, from brainstorming ideas to sourcing and assembling the materials.

Home Manager of Broomhills, Leigh-Anne Cowling, expressed her pride in the project, saying: “The residents really enjoyed making it and getting involved. We discussed what to do, looked for items to use, and the final result is amazing. To top it off, we won! We are all so happy.”

Resident, Sheila, shared her excitement: “I am so impressed and proud of what we made out of a load of rubbish that would have been thrown away.”

Fellow resident, Irene, added: “Doesn’t it look good? Nobody will believe I helped make it.”

Nicola Newman reflected on the process: “To be honest, at first, I had my doubts but as it started coming together, our confidence grew. At the end, we all loved it. It looks brilliant, and I can’t stop looking at it. I feel a huge sense of pride that our residents made it.”

This creative and sustainable project was not just about winning a competition—it was a celebration of teamwork, resourcefulness, and the joy of crafting something beautiful together. The wreath now stands as a symbol of the Broomhills community’s talent and spirit.
